Topic 1: Role of the Critical Care Nurse
Online Module - Care of patients with multiple health needs, what makes a patient critical, escalation of care, recognition of deteriorating patient, contexts of care – intensive care, emergency, coronary care, complex legal and ethical issues
Topic 2: Critical Nursing Care of Airway and Breathing Compromise
Online Module – Rapid Sequence Induction/sedation, care of the intubated patient, basic ventilation principals (BIPAP/CPAP/HFNC), basic life support vs advanced life support, arterial blood gas analysis, management of compromised breathing
Topic 3: Critical Nursing Care of Circulatory Compromise
Online Module – arrhythmias (SVT, rapid AF, bradycardia, heart blocks), pacing/cardioversion, central venous catheters, inotropes, cardiogenic shock
