Learning outcomes

1.

Describe the major psychological influences in human development and behaviour.

2.

Apply your comprehension by evaluating the role that psychological factors may play in various chiropractic patient presentations.

3.

Evaluate a chiropractic patient with the aim of creating a biopsychosocial approach to their assessment and care.

4.

Distinguish between the most commonly presenting psychological disorders in chiropractic practice and evaluate a patient for creating the most appropriate patient-centred and evidence-based intervention for optimal patient outcomes.

5.

Evaluate a person presenting for care by selecting an appropriate screening instrument for the most commonly presenting psychological disorders to chiropractic practice.

6.

Discriminate when a person requires a referral to a mental health professional when a psychological condition is impacting negatively on patients’ rehabilitation and generate that referral.

7.

Apply effective clinical communication skills through a Motivational Interviewing framework to create patient-centred care for enhancing patient outcomes.
