Enrolment in the second year of the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours), Bachelor of Engineering Technology or any combined undergraduate Engineering degree or enrolment in the first year of the Master of Engineering degree.

Learning outcomes

1.

Plan and manage their own career development through sourcing, completing and evidencing 450 Professional Practice Exposure (PPE) hours, including at least 300 hours of Industry Experience;

2.

Develop the necessary skills and competencies for career success in the Engineering discipline and the broader context of employability;

3.

Learn how to develop and apply skills and knowledge in a real-world professional network setting

4.

Reflect on their performance and personal experience for on-going career planning purposes.

Unit content:

The self-paced unit provides students with the information they need to effectively manage their own career development in order to meet their PPE requirements on graduation and achieve on- going career success. It also introduces students to an online career learning e-Portfolio platform which includes both an instructional “Engineering Professional Practice Guide” and an interactive means of recording PPE hours with evidence (i.e. a progressive PPE Activity Log and reflective reporting templates with the capacity to upload proof for each completed activity).
