Enrolment rules
Enrolment in Bachelor of Nursing. Completion of NUR112 Health Across the Lifespan 1 or NUR100 Introduction to Nursing Practice; NUR114 Professional Practice 1 or NUR103 Contemporary Nursing Practice.
Students who have successfully completed NUR153 may not enrol in this unit for credit.

Learning outcomes
1.
Understand the role of values, ethics, and advocacy in professional nursing practice

Explain the models of health and community care, health care reform in Australia, and how these influence nursing practice in the community
3.
Identify and understand the legal aspects of medications, actions of drugs on the body, elements of medication orders, and requirements for medication safety
4.
Demonstrate skills in medication calculations, unit of measurement conversions and terminology at an introductory level
5.
Demonstrate an understanding of the theories of teaching and learning, and use evidence-based practice to demonstrate skills in assessment of learning needs, and to plan, implement, evaluate and document therapeutic teaching and learning at a beginning level
