Learning outcomes
1.
Describe the normal endocrinology of the reproductive cycle of domestic animals, and with reference to this, explain the actions of drugs used in the control of reproduction, and develop and explain regimes for the control of reproduction in domestic animals.
2.
Describe normal male and female reproductive anatomy, and diagnose and describe pathophysiological conditions of the reproductive tract.
3.
Assess the reproductive function, fertility and breeding soundness of domestic animals, including examination of the animals, collection, evaluation and interpretation of samples from male and female animals.
4.
Describe normal and abnormal parturition in domestic animals and diagnose and correct abnormalities of parturition.
5.
Diagnose and treat common diseases of the reproductive system in male and female domestic animals.

Unit content:This unit aims to prepare senior veterinary students to manage reproduction and obstetrics related cases in practice. Techniques for examination, diagnosis, evaluation of individual animals and herds will be presented and practiced. It is expected that students will develop the capacity to solve reproduction and obstetrics case problems, apply the appropriate techniques, with a good understanding of the theory.
