Additional information
Unit content:In this particular unit students will cover a vast array of screen production fields, in the aim to make them as valuable on set as possible. These include on-set safety, production design, cinematography, data management, gaffer/lighting, gripping, 1st assistant director, and sound. Please treat each of these fields with the utmost respect, as even if you do not think you ultimately want to work in a specific one, a basic knowledge of each of these fields makes you more valuable on set, and a better film-maker.
In particular, SCR538 sets students up to perform well in the professional winter shoots. The follow-on winter unit is SCR588 Professional Placement in Media Production, and is essentially the second half of semester one but is run in winter to ensure we have good access to industry professionals and so that the somewhat intense shooting schedule does not impact on time spent in other units. In some ways SCR588 is an additional assessment item for SCR538, in that in SCR588 you will effectively be assessed on what you've learned in SCR538.
