Learning outcomes
1.
Explain and interpret the fundamentals of the production process, application, and safety of hydrogen as an energy carrier.
2.
Evaluate technologies that underpin the hydrogen economy including technological readiness, economic viability, environmental impact and government regulations.
3.
Assess factors that influence use of hydrogen in energy and transport sectors at the national level using the PESTLE framework.
4.
Apply theoretical knowledge of hydrogen production, storage and policy to analyse the processes, systems or projects observed in real world examples.

Additional information
Unit content:
The microcredential is comprised of three modules, covering a range of topics:
- Hydrogen conversion and production: This module explores the processes and technologies involved in converting and producing hydrogen. Participants will gain an understanding of different production methods and their efficiency, as well as the environmental considerations.
- Hydrogen as energy storage: This module focuses on the storage and transportation of hydrogen. Participants will learn about different storage methods, safety protocols, and the challenges associated with hydrogen transportation. The module also covers the integration of hydrogen into existing energy systems.
- Hydrogen economy, policy, and regulation: This module delves into the broader aspects of the hydrogen economy. Participants will examine the policy and regulatory frameworks related to hydrogen adoption, as well as the economic implications and market dynamics. The module also explores the potential applications of hydrogen in various sectors such as transportation, industry, and power generation.
Other notes:
Each module is divided into sections indicated by the following headings:
- Pre-Workshop: Resources and activities can be found here for independent study prior to attending the timetabled workshop. This is where you will find topic introductions, lecture videos, essential reading, additional readings, and internet resources.
- Workshop: Resources and learning technologies to support the workshop are found here.
- Post-Workshop: Activities for completion after the workshop are found here. Note that some assessment-related tasks for completion will appear here.
