Molecular techniques including DNA cloning, polymerase chain reaction (PCR), DNA sequencing, DNA restriction and hybridization methods;
2.
DNA replication, recombination, mutation and repair;
3.
Gene expression from DNA to RNA to protein, including how this is regulated;
4.
Molecular mechanisms of signal transduction.
5.
The ability to appropriately design experiments;
6.
The ability to effectively interpret and communicate experimental data;
7.
Bioinformatics skills, particularly involving the exploitation of data from molecular databases.
8.
Using knowledge and skills to develop new approaches for the investigation of cellular processes in animals, plants and microorganisms.
