Unit content:
The unit will examine key concepts in governance and public administration and the relevance of comparing developed and developing country cases. This will include one-third of the unit focused on early administrative lessons from China, Iran, Mexico, Peru, and Greece. The second third of the unit traces the impact of colonization on public sector management and the post-WWII emphasis on good governance. The last third of the unit focuses on particular public sector management case studies including small island states and their administrative challenges; the unique challenges facing resource-dependent states and sub-national jurisdictions such as WA; administration in authoritarian regimes; and global administrative governance.
