Learning outcomes

1.
Provide an understanding of the role of narratives in linking the political and the personal through the exploration of the three-way relationship between narratives, national discourses and individual lives;
2.
Introduce you to the study of a wide range of narrative samples and theoretical texts relative to Asian regions through a thematic and (very broadly) chronological overview;
3.
Develop your knowledge of contemporary narrative “texts” of Asian regions and their position within historical, social and political (and sometimes economic) contexts;
4.
Encourage you to construct and explore a topic in an area of your choice through relevant theoretical and narrative works in order to promote and develop your analytical and comparative skills and your capacity as an independent learner and researcher;
5.
Promote ethical professional skills, especially in terms of use of sources, as well as awareness of and respect for the values held by different cultures.
