Unit content:

MAP contains five modules. The first three modules illustrate the key principles and behaviours of academic integrity, and will help you incorporate best practices in your work. Modules 4 - 5 explore more complex scenarios and offer practical advice.

 

Module 1. What is academic integrity?

  • Discuss why academic integrity is important for study and future professional practice.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the expectations of the academic environment.
  • Explain the key concepts, principles and practices of academic integrity.
  • Identify and reflect on your motivations for studying.

 

Module 2. How do I show academic integrity in my preparation?

  • Identify ways to maintain academic integrity under pressure.
  • Allocate work and responsibility to ensure academic integrity when working with others.
  • Explain the reasons for communicating or building on others' ideas or work.
  • Identify relevant sources, narrow searches and evaluate if the source itself complies with the principles of academic integrity.
  • Explain the importance of recording source information to ensure academic integrity.

 

Module 3. How do I show academic integrity in my work?

  • Demonstrate understanding of the importance of academic integrity when evaluating different sources and making notes.
  • Demonstrate academic integrity through the appropriate use of referencing.
  • Recognise the different ways to refer to another person's work or ideas with integrity.
  • Differentiate between quotations, paraphrases and summaries to incorporate source material into your writing.
  • Use text-matching software to help demonstrate academic integrity in your assignments.
