Learning outcomes

Demonstrate a critical understanding of programmatic, governance or policy practices relevant to working in development

Analyse the diverse range of approaches and perspectives (including inter-disciplinary perspectives) that can be integrated when addressing practical applications of development design, procurement, implementation and evaluation

Integrate the knowledge acquired during university studies and apply to international aid and development related tasks

Engage critically with the body of literature relevant to your project or placement

Design and undertake IA&D-related research or collaborate professionally with relevant organisations

Reflect critically upon the intricate politics of working as a development practitioner

Practice articulate, persuasive communication, including preparing and delivering oral presentations to a high standard

Prepare a formal placement/project final report to a professional standard

Additional information

Unit content:There are a series of workshops that students can attend at the beginning of semester to building capacity around research and library skills, academic report writing, and presentations etc. There is a variety of literature provided about working in development that will assist students in preparing and thinking about their roles as development practitioners.
