Unit content:· Introduction to Professional Engineering Practice – time management and Gantt Charts; portfolios and reflective practice · Critical Thinking – elements and standards · Writing skills – developmental model for writing; report writing; academic referencing · Conceptual thinking – cognitive biases; puzzle-based learning · Symbolic Logic – propositions; truth tables; propositional arguments; predicate arguments · Introduction to programming – NXT Mindstorms; pseudo-codes; logical flow · Mathematical Modelling – simple linear and non-linear models; simple source/load systems; linearization; exponentials, logarithms and flow rates · Introduction to Excel as an engineering tool · Introduction to engineering graphics
