Enrolment in a Bachelor of Engineering, or Bachelor of Engineering Honours or Bachelor of Science (Engineering Technology).
Students who have successfully completed a Foundation Unit (units beginning with FDN) may not enrol in this unit for credit.

Unit content:· Introduction to Professional Engineering Practice – time management and Gantt Charts; portfolios and reflective practice
· Critical Thinking – elements and standards
· Writing skills – developmental model for writing; report writing; academic referencing
· Conceptual thinking – cognitive biases; puzzle-based learning
· Symbolic Logic – propositions; truth tables; propositional arguments; predicate arguments
· Introduction to programming – NXT Mindstorms; pseudo-codes; logical flow
· Mathematical Modelling – simple linear and non-linear models; simple source/load systems; linearization; exponentials, logarithms and flow rates
