Additional information

Unit content:

This unit is designed to help you to meet the professional standards required by the Australian Curriculum. All Australian teachers are 'responsible for teaching the subject specific literacy of their learning area' and must have 'a clear understanding of the literacy demands an opportunities of their learning area' (ACARA, 2013). The focus of the unit is on three main ideas: 1. Understanding literacy development: strengthen your ability to be an effective teacher and communicator of literacy skills and knowledge; 2. Understanding language: making your implicit knowledge more explicit in order to help you realise what you already know about language so that you are able to teach others to use language effectively. 3. Understanding reading and writing as processes: develop your knowledge on how to use and teach text processing and text composing strategies.
