Learning outcomes

Provide a rationale for the provision of quality PES programs in schools.
2.
Clearly articulate the requirements of implementing the PES curriculum described by the Western Australian School Curriculum and Standards Authority (WASCSA).
3.
Display understanding of the Year 11 and 12 PES content at a level required to teach.
4.
Prepare PES teaching activities using productive and reproductive pedagogy.
5.
Develop PES appropriate assessment tasks.
6.
Plan for, display and evaluate quality PES teaching.

Unit content:This unit will focus on the following aspects of teaching PES in schools: 1. The rationale for PES in school curriculum. 2. Unpacking PES Curriculum components - Years 11 and 12. 3. Revising and displaying the PES content knowledge. 4. Preparing PES teaching activities and lessons. 5. Understanding how productive and reproductive pedagogies work including application of ICT & differentiation-inclusivity principles. 6. Preparation for teaching PES - Development of planning, management and implementation skills. 7. Translating theory into practice – Micro-Teaching. 8. Assessment and reporting in senior secondary school. 9. Access PES resources for Years 11 and 12.
