Unit content:The unit is concerned with a range of concepts and issues in the broad area of Industrial Computer Systems, more specifically the usage of embedded and computer based systems in measurement and control applications. Topics: sensors and actuators, measurement systems, embedded systems, microcontrollers, real-time systems, DAQ systems, instrument communications, signal conditioning, remote I/O, communication technologies and signal analysis. The unit is delivered in an engineering studio model where staff and students work together in solving a range of engineering projects associated with the content of this unit.
Other notes:Students are expected to have experience in at least one programming language and fundamental knowledge of electrical circuits and electronics.
