Learning outcomes

Have gained an understanding of computer technology (hardware and software) and of the role which these technologies play in information processing

Be able to discuss the impact of information technology on organisations and society from the point of view of such issues as employment, privacy, the security of information and the problem of computer crime

Be able to demonstrate proficiency and competence in the use of computer hardware and software

Be able to discuss generic computer components – hardware, software, in a variety of devices including PCs, Mobile Phones, and consumer electronics

Other notes:Each student is expected to read the lecture notes and any recommended materials relevant to the topic each week. Students will also need to spend some time completing the lab exercises for that week. In addition each student needs to complete two assignments and sit the final examination.
