Learning outcomes

1.
Solid knowledge and accurate use in basic grammatical forms and vocabulary
2.
Further development of oral competency in a range of speech styles in Japanese, as well as socio-cultural understanding related to the speech styles
3.
Ability to read and comprehend Japanese texts at the lower intermediate level, containing technical terms for topics such as technology, sports, food and popular culture
4.
Ability to converse in Japanese about topics covered in the textbook or classroom
5.
Ability to write short essays in Japanese to express their own opinions on the basis of class activities of reading and discussions
6.
Ability to present their own opinion in a formal discussion such as debate session
7.
Further knowledge of Japanese grammar and idiomatic expressions, covering around 50 new items.
8.
Further kanji knowledge, adding about 100 new characters to those previously studied.
