Unit content:In this seminar-workshop the student is introduced to some of the major concepts of photographic interpretation. The emphasis is on the integration of modes of interpretation and visual research into the students’ photographic practice. The subject opens up for consideration practices that enrich knowledge and the quality of visualisation in image production. Students are provided with a foundation in photographic project research and techniques for developing visual meaning. Students will be introduced to some of the creative and philosophical issues surrounding the use of iconography in images.
Other notes:Basic photography skills are required to complete this unit. Students who have no experience in photography are strongly advised to complete PHO124 Photography I prior to attempting this unit.
