Additional information

Unit content:

This unit is designed to help you to meet the professional standards required by the Australian Curriculum. All Australian teachers are 'responsible for teaching the subject specific literacy of their learning area' and must have 'a clear understanding of the literacy demands an opportunities of their learning area' (ACARA, 2013). The focus of the unit is on two main ideas: 1. Understanding literacy development – strengthening your ability to be an effective literacy teacher; 2. Understanding language – improving your knowledge about language fundamentals, reading, and writing and making your current implicit knowledge more explicit.
