Additional information
The third-year unit focuses on Visioning, Planning and Acting. Visioning means choosing your preferred future(s) from your baseline and alternative futures. The use of multiple futures is emphasized, students need to create multiple futures around one topic, contrasting business as usual (the baseline future) versus selected alternative future(s). This sets the long-term direction of a solid vision. The vision starts the planning process. The different methods of planning, including the use of Strategic Issues to Feed into a Strategic Plan (using Futures Wheels) or a Goal-Based Strategic Plan.
Acting through implementing the plan requires commitment and persistence, communication and trust from stakeholders in this change management process. Examples are discussed and analysed requiring a critical mindset and an interdisciplinary approach.
This unit asks students to complete foresight plan for an organisation or topic of their choice. It prepares students to go out in the world and apply their knowledge of foresight.
