Additional information
Unit content:This unit is undertaken concurrently with BMS431 Laboratory Medicine Practice I. These WIL units, in conjunction with the clinical units in third year and the remaining units in semester 8, will help you prepare for work in a diagnostic pathology laboratory. Importantly, WIL provides an opportunity for you to make contacts and to develop networks with prospective employers.
It is undertaken whilst on a 12 week WIL placement in a NATA accredited diagnostic pathology laboratory. The nature of your experiences will depend on the type of laboratory you are placed into, the disciplines (laboratories) in which you work, the type, experience and level of staff members you work with, the types of laboratory equipment and protocols you undertake, and other factors that may arise during your time on WIL placement.
