Provide a rationale for the provision of quality Health Studies (HS) programs in schools.
2.
Clearly articulate the requirements of implementing the HS curriculum described by the Western Australian School and Curriculum Standards Authority (WASCSA).
3.
Display understanding of the Year 11 and 12 HS content at a level required to teach.
4.
Prepare HS teaching activities using productive and reproductive pedagogy.
5.
Develop HS appropriate assessment tasks.
6.
Plan for, display and evaluate quality HS teaching.

Unit content:This unit will focus on the following aspects of teaching HS in schools: 1. The rationale for HS in school curriculum. 2. Unpacking HS Curriculum components - Years 11 and 12. 3. Revising and displaying the HS content knowledge. 4. Preparing HS teaching activities and lessons. 5. Understanding how productive and reproductive pedagogies work including application of ICT & differentiation-inclusivity principles. 6. Preparation for teaching HS - Development of planning, management and implementation skills. 7. Translating theory into practice – Micro-Teaching. 8. Assessment and reporting in senior secondary school. 9. Access HS resources for Years 11 and 12.
