Learning outcomes

1.

Demonstrate the orderly and efficient evaluation of a patient’s neurological and orthopaedic condition;

2.

Discuss the various differential diagnoses available for several presenting symptoms of a patient;

3.

Develop a working diagnosis given a particular presentation in a patient’s history and examination including radiographic images;

4.

Demonstrate the ability to make appropriate decisions based on incomplete information, including limitations in current scientific or clinical knowledge;

5.

Demonstrates the ability to identify questions and learning needs arising from clinical interactions or simulated clinical experiences;

6.

Discuss the neurophysiological, anatomical, pathological, or clinical concepts underlying the diseases and conditions presented in the unit;

7.

Assess diagnostic images and identify abnormalities related to musculoskeletal soft tissue conditions and injuries of the spine and extremities;

8.

Discuss the basic underlying pathomechanics that results in the imaging presentation of the above noted injuries;

9.

Integrate the epidemiology of the musculoskeletal conditions covered into a decision making process when developing a radiological differential diagnosis;

10.

Demonstrate a practical understanding of the role of the various types of imaging in the assessment of musculoskeletal soft tissue conditions and injuries, as evidenced by appropriate selection of the various imaging modalities used in the work-up of the conditions covered;

11.

Apply lines of measurement accurately and appropriately in the clinical, postural, and biomechanical evaluation of radiographs;

12.

Utilize accepted guidelines to produce appropriate medicolegal quality radiology reports.
