Additional information

Unit content:

Overall the unit is concerned with providing the foundations of control systems as clearly stated in ULO. This includes a number of integrated and interwoven threads, all of which are full required to understand, appreciate, analyse and gain practical experience in using process control systems. These threads comprise of the mathematical tools for analysis, control systems fundamentals both continuous and discrete time systems, MATLAB/Simulink for supporting the learning, analysis and simulation of control systems, LabVIEW in order to be able to use the computer based measurement laboratory and the laboratory work itself. The significant laboratory component of the unit makes use of Simulink/MATLAB and LabVIEW to facilitate problem solving, simulations and measurement/control in the specialised instrumentation and control laboratory.

Other notes:

Students are expected to have some knowledge and background in Engineering mathematics and control area.
