Additional information
The unit explores the typical architectures and main components found in SCADA and DCS systems. This includes practical exposure to a couple of systems, network structures, communication technologies, real time databases, historians and trending, alarm systems. Some aspects of programming and configuration (eg VB, SCL, SFC, Scripting) will be reviewed and studied. A variety of typical instrument systems are also explored. An important aspect of the unit will be some site visits to working systems in industry. Some of the specific topic/materials expected to be cover in the unit include: 1. Programming in Graph and SCL 2. Databases -- Fundamental concepts and remote access 3. VSD Controllers 4. Profibus networking and multiple controllers 5. HMIs 6. WinCC (Siemens) 7. Experion (Honeywell)
