Additional information

Unit content:

Clinical biochemistry is the stream of clinical pathology that studies the analysis of body fluids (such as serum, plasma, urine and others) for the diagnosis and treatment of disease. This unit covers the pathophysiology and laboratory diagnosis of disorders associated with abnormalities with enzymes and clinical enzymology, liver function, minerals and trace elements, iron metabolism, carbohydrates, lipids, as well as endocrinology. This unit will cover these topics using an integrated series of lectures, tutorials and practicals. There will be an emphasis on the development of laboratory skills and problem solving through case studies.
