Additional information

Unit content:Anthropology refers to the study of humanity, and our exploration of this discipline is premised on the assumption that dialogue with other cultures is central to an understanding of our own. This unit is a history of ideas about cultural difference, and a critical consideration of the discipline of Anthropology and its broader importance to the social sciences and humanities. It introduces classic studies of 'Other' cultures and societies in the context of counterpoint constructions of the Modern/Western 'Self'.
