Unit content:This Unit will primarily cover 4 aspects: 1. Description of cutting-edge next generation sequencing biotechnology for genomics research, including the biological backgrounds, characteristics, challenges, and applications of this technology; 2. Explanation of quantitative mass spectrometry biotechnology for proteomics research, including the fundamentals, characteristics, limitations, and applications; 3. Introduction to core bioinformatics and how it can be applied to tackle the challenges presented by the pivotal biotechnologies, including microarray and next generation sequencing technology; 4. Description of important bioinformatics and computational tools essential for analysing practical genomics and proteomics data.
