Unit content:

Lecture Topics. 1. The Marine Environment: the gross structure of the marine environment, marine biodiversity and vertical gradients. 2. The Marine Biota: marine microbes, algae, invertebrates and fishes. 3. Secondarily Marine Organisms: marine reptiles, birds, mammals, and angiosperms 4. Ecological Categories of Marine Organisms: plankton, nekton and benthos. Practical Topics. Identification of Marine Invertebrates, Macroalgae and Seagrasses ,and Marine Gastropods. Independent Study Project: Introduction to Marine Research.
