Learning outcomes

Apply Year 7-10 English curriculum content described by the Western Australian School and

Curriculum Standards Authority (WASCSA) in constructing teaching resources, pedagogical strategies and lesson plan with a focus on literature and literacy. 

2.

Employ a range of teaching and assessment strategies, that includes ways of providing appropriate feedback that caters for student diversity.

3.

Communicate a range of different theoretical approaches from curriculum and pedagogy that can be applied in practice.

4.

Critique a range of resources for ongoing professional learning in the Year 7-10 English curriculum context through unit, resource creation and teaching experiences

5.

Evaluate and plan for own professional growth using reflective practice

Additional information

Unit content:

Critical analysis of conventions of a range of literature including both written, visual and multi-modal texts, and analysis of the relationship between text and context, and using texts purposefully. Development of critical literacy by examining how written and visual literature have contributed to and also interrogated concepts of knowledge and truth.

Development of understanding of Year 7-10 English curriculum content described by the Western Australian School and Curriculum Standards Authority (WASCSA) and how to teach it in sequenced lesson planning, resource design and enactment of teaching with inclusion of cross-curriculum priorities and general capabilities.
