Learning outcomes

1.

Apply knowledge of diverse Year 7-10 secondary students and how they learn and the Western Australian Health and Physical Education Year 7-10 curriculum, to develop and justify differentiated sequenced lesson plans, resources and enactment of teaching.

2.

Proactively create and maintain supportive, inclusive and safe learning environments, embedding effective learning strategies to respond to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander learning needs.

3.

Evaluate assessment strategies, including diagnostic, formative and summative assessments and critique ways to provide feedback to students and parent/carers

4.

Collaborate professionally with colleagues, teachers, parents/carers and the community to assist in planning and implementing effective teaching and learning in the Year 7-10 Health and Physical Education context.

Unit content:

This unit explores the SCSA Year 7-10 Health and Physical Education course rationale, structures, content, scope and sequence, requirements and resources. Students will evaluate and engage with a range of reproductive and productive pedagogy in a differentiated framework. Comprehensive lesson planning will evidence scaffolded programming, assessment for - and of learning, ICT and cross-curriculum initiatives. Students will explore learning experiences to develop psychologically needs supportive classrooms with a focus on metacognition, feedback, proactive behaviour management and routines. Stakeholder and professional agencies that support sustained quality teaching will be identified. The focus of this unit is: curriculum requirements, - specifically the WA curriculum for Years 7-10, planning sequences of lessons, assessing and reporting on student learning and accessing higher learning outcomes for self and others.
