Explain the normal physiology and anatomy of the major organs of farm animals covered in the unit, and relate this to the function of the body as a whole. (Function).
Integrate information across the topics of study to develop a basic understanding of what are the characteristics of a 'healthy and productive' farm animal, as well as some of the abnormal physiological and anatomical scenarios that are associated with an 'unhealthy' and/or 'unproductive' farm animal. (Integration).
Apply your understanding of the normal and abnormal physiology and anatomy of farm animals, along with the production and welfare consequences, to interpret and explain the results of mock animal production experiments. (Application).
Apply independent study skills by researching and critically reviewing information from peer reviewed literature, and work effectively to communicate that information in the form of a short, written scientific article. (Research and communication skills).
Demonstrate professionalism through compliance with Murdoch University professionalism policies, in particular the ethical and safe use of animal tissues. (Professionalism).

Additional information
The unit emphasises the interaction between the physiology of farm animals and their underlying anatomy. It covers the major organ systems; emphasising the functional anatomy and physiology of the cardiovascular, respiratory, renal, adrenal, digestive, and reproductive systems. The basic skills of data analysis and scientific communication will also be introduced.
