Enrolment rules

Enrolment in M1156 MAppPsych (Clinical Psychology) or D1073 DPsych (Clinical Psychology).
Students who have current mental health issues or major health issues impacting on their practice should raise this with the unit coordinator prior to enrolment. In accordance with the AHPRA guidelines, competency to practice may affect a student’s ability to enrol in the practicum or require them to withdraw from the practicum
Provisional registration as a Psychologist with Psychology Board of Australia.

Learning outcomes

1.

Knowledge and implementation of evidence based psychological interventions for adult clients;

2.

An ability to critically evaluate clinical psychology practices related to adult clients and reflect on your own clinical practice;

3.

Ability to appropriately document the clinical management of adult clients and engage in professional communication relating to their care.

4.

Ability to work professionally and ethically in a clinical setting.

Additional information

Unit content:

This units entails completing a psychology placement and the application of theoretical knowledge, theories and models to applied clinical settings.
In addition, learning is supported by individual and group supervision and applied practice seminars. This integrates theoretical and applied perspectives, supports student on placement and further develops reflective practice and professional development.

Other notes:

Students who are experiencing mental health issues that may impair their ability to safely work with clients will not be approved for practicum enrolment or may be required to withdraw from the practicum. Students that may pose a danger to the public will not be approved for practicum enrolment or may be required to withdraw from the practicum.
