Communicate the International and Australian regulatory frameworks in which biosecurity operates, in a range of formats;
Illustrate the environmental, economic and social drivers behind biosecurity to different audiences using appropriate examples;
Critique the roles of community, industry and government and their shared responsibility for biosecurity;
Use case studies to articulate typical activities that occur at different stages of the biosecurity continuum.

The broad aims of this unit are: 1. To introduce biosecurity in the context of International Obligations for the protection of plant, animal (including marine/aquatic) and human health; 2. To provide information on the Australian biosecurity system and the biosecurity continuum – pre-border, border and post-border; 3. To develop an understanding of the multidisciplinary activities that underpin biosecurity; 4. To develop knowledge of the impact that biosecurity has at all levels, from Government and Industry through to the individual.
This unit will be taught in intensive mode.
