Learning outcomes

1.

Synthesize and apply knowledge of Year 7-10 secondary school students and how they learn through Mathematics specific lesson planning, resource design and enactment of teaching, catering for student diversity.

2.

Proactively create and maintain supportive, inclusive and safe learning environments, including effective learning strategies to respond to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander learning needs.

3.

Evaluate student learning using a range of assessment strategies, and report to students, parents and other stakeholders in the Year 7-10 Mathematics curriculum context.

4.

Collaborate professionally with colleagues, teachers, parents/carers and the community to assist in planning and implementing effective teaching and learning in the Year 7-10 Mathematics context.

Unit content:

This unit explores the SCSA Year 7-10 Mathematics course rationale, structures, content, scope and sequence, requirements and resources. Students will evaluate and engage with a range of reproductive and productive pedagogy in a differentiated framework. Comprehensive lesson planning will evidence scaffolded programming, assessment for – and of learning, ICT and cross-curriculum initiatives. Students will explore learning experiences to develop psychologically needs supportive classrooms with a focus on metacognition, feedback, proactive behaviour management and routines. Stakeholder and professional agencies that support sustained quality teaching will be identified.
