Learning outcomes

Learn important developments in the course of the Indochinese wars, learn the “facts” or better put, develop historical knowledge.

Improve the ability to think critically and to argue effectively about history, gaining a historical sense.

Learn about the interactions between different groups that shaped regional history (historical sense).

Improve the ability to recognise and develop connections between historical issues and life outside the classroom; the “what are the stakes” question or put more bluntly, “who cares?” (historical sense).

Learn to read historical sources and effectively express their content in writing (expression); to analyse different types of written texts and identify how each of them is shaped by author, audience, and the context in which they were constructed (historical sense).

Develop the ability to communicate effectively in writing in a manner that is coherent, well-developed, and expressive of complex thought (expression).
