Demonstrate a critical understanding of financial statements that are prepared to help users make key decisions
Compute key financial ratios that assist in the decision-making process for users who are external to the organisation such as shareholders/stakeholders
Analyse the impact of differences in financial ratios between financial periods and how these changes may affect management, shareholder or stakeholder actions
Evaluate budgetary process that internal management uses when making decisions relating to the allocation of scarce resources
Evaluate the role of accounting information in decision making.
Demonstrate the skills of critical analysis, teamwork and collaborative learning, and communication – both written and oral.

This unit will predominantly examine information relating to the Public Sector including: 1) Performance reports (Statement of surpluses and deficits) 2) Position reports (Statement of assets and debts) 3) The Statement of Cash Flows 4) Financial ratios 5) Management accounting and the control of expenditure 6) The budgeting process 7) Cost volume profit analysis and decision making
