Learning outcomes
Demonstrate all aspects of practice, including the making of professional judgements, from an ethical standpoint, with special attention to those most vulnerable clients. This requires being knowledgeable of relevant ethical behaviour codes such as the ethical and professional attributes detailed within the ANZACATA Code of Conduct and Code of Ethics and within organisational policies and procedures. Students will be expected to be able to provide advanced critical and creative perspectives on this area of their practice.
Describe your casework to your peers and supervisors in verbal and written formats, with confidence and interest in the new ideas this process generates. This involves case presentations, group and individual supervision and integration of feedback into student clinical practice.
Demonstrate autonomy and proficiency in working with a range of clients with different presenting issues and relationship styles from initial engagement through to post-intervention evaluation and reflection.
Engage openly, self critically and reflectively with the supervisory process. This involves being prepared for supervision, building and maintaining effective supervisory relationships, receiving and providing feedback and following instructions
Develop psychodynamic case formulations that are used to deepen and develop the client-therapist relationship in agreement with clients, taking into account client goals and presentations, your role and capacity as a student Creative Arts Therapist, as well as considering the resources and limitations of the placement agency and its working capabilities.
Describe the models of practice and theoretical stances you are using and your rationale for making these choices in relation to the client presentation and your clinical capacity.
Evidence sufficient progression from Clinical Placement and Supervision Group 1 in the areas of professional clinical formation, development of capacity to work at the interface between personal material and client material from a therapeutic stance, and skills for clinical practice.
Engage as a professional creative arts therapist in the contextual issues regarding client work, including but not limited to: making and changing appointments; correspondence; client case notes and records; report writing; contracting; materials use and management in and outside of sessions; using practices in place for protecting client confidentiality; and in relating to and working with colleagues and other staff; safe adaptation of clinical practice to correspond to the healthy balance of personal capacity, organisational requirements and client needs.
Develop the skills and professional behaviours required to undertake collaborative teamwork, and responsibility consistent with Murdoch Graduate Attributes and as detailed within the ANZACATA Code of Conduct.

This unit has a quota (up to 15) which may result in some students not being able to enrol in the unit in the semester they choose. This may mean studying part-time may be required.
