Unit content:
The main themes addressed in the unit are application of livestock science theory to management of livestock enterprises and supply chains, career skills relevant to careers in agricultural industry, and career opportunities in agriculture.
Other notes:
This unit has four key components.
- Professional skills workshops tailored to livestock industry conducted in collaboration with Ag4U that will equip students with career skills to support them to engage with industry as they enter the work force.
- Students will visit a range of livestock industries and enterprises by undertaking the Australian Wool Innovation Industry Tour during the study break. This tour is focused on application of animal science theory in real world scenarios. Students will have opportunity to interact with agricultural industry professionals. Students will work in teams to conduct a case study based on a specific livestock enterprise included in the tour.
- Students will participate in industry workshops that provide opportunity to develop both confidence and competence in topics relevant to the profession
- Students will have opportunity to develop elevated skills and resources that demonstrate career capabilities to potential employers
