The content of the unit includes:
- The Sentencing Act (1993) WA and the Sentence Administration Act (WA) 2003 WA
- Traditional and alternative approaches to sentencing
- The experience of imprisonment
- Different prison designs and management systems
- Specific groups of offenders including those at risk of suicide and self-harm, and female offenders
- Treatment of offenders
- Community corrections, parole and early release
