Learning outcomes

Display an understanding of the history of petroleum regulation in Australia and international jurisdictions;
2.
Identify the different types of regulation used in the oil and gas extraction;
3.
Explain how the division between onshore and offshore petroleum activities and regulation operates in practice;
4.
Identify and analyse the relevant legislation that controls the ownership, exploration and development of oil and gas resources;
5.
Apply the principles of petroleum regulation to problem-based scenarios;
6.
Apply the statutory framework (the legal and statutory processes and legal consequences) necessary to obtain exploration and production rights to problem based scenarios;
7.
Understand the environmental regulatory processes and apply these processes to environmental applications.
