Learning outcomes

1.

Apply and communicate knowledge of the underlying principles of plant growth at the cellular, plant and crop level, including the basic principles of plant physiology, genetics, biochemistry, nitrogen fixation and plant nutrition in the context of sustainable food and fibre production

2.

Apply knowledge of principles of plant growth to solve and manage problems related to increasing biomass production, while being cognisant of economic and sustainability considerations.

3.

Apply skills in acquisition of data in field and laboratory settings, data analyses and critical evaluation of these data to solve and manage problems related to sustainable food and fibre production.

4.

Effectively articulate agricultural science concepts in an integrated written report describing development of  major global farming systems and the environmental and economic limitations to biomass production.
