Learning outcomes

Read and write simple sentences using Hiragana and Katakana and approximately 43 kanji.
2.
Comprehend moderately paced simple conversations and simple cohesive texts in polite Japanese.
3.
Apply grammatical structures and vocabulary to generate basic conversations and simple texts on everyday topics.
4.
Describe Japanese culture in relation to its inter-cultural communication practices.

Students with prior knowledge of Japanese, including those who have Japanese: Second Language ATAR or WACE Japanese or equivalent, should consult with the Academic Chair of Japanese to determine level of entry.
