Learning outcomes

1.

Apply evidence-based and scientific methods to psychological assessment across the lifespan using empirically validated and culturally responsive methods, including for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples.

2.

Evaluate and apply psychometric theory and research to select, adapt and implement evidence-based assessment measures to clients from a range of sociocultural contexts.

3.

Conduct multimodal psychological assessment incorporating different assessment tools and processes to inform case formulation, diagnosis, treatment planning, evaluation, and risk management.

4.

Interpret, implement, and communicate psychological assessment findings in different formats and contexts to reflect the sociocultural diversity of clients.

5.

Operate within the boundaries of professional competence to know when to consult with or refer clients to other professionals.

6.

Engage in self-reflective practice to evaluate the effectiveness of psychological assessment.

Unit content:

This unit will cover content related to different domains of psychological assessment relevant to different human domains, such as cognitive, behavioural, emotional, personality, interpersonal, and systems contexts.
