Learning outcomes
1.
Demonstrate an understanding of the business of insurance, how it operates as a global market, and the importance of insurance (and risk spreading) to the economic and social wellbeing of society;
2.
Identify and explain how the law regulates different types of contracts of insurance
3.
Explain the general principles of insurance law, both at common law and under Australian Statute; and
4.
Interpret applicable statutes and the terms of a contract of insurance in a fact scenario to determine the likely outcome of insurance disputes.
