Additional information
Unit content:In this unit you will learn about the different policy instruments that are available to governments to deliver on environmental policy objectives. You will learn to apply these policy objectives to different areas (e.g. climate change, biodiversity conservation and water management). You will gain a better understanding of the difficulties of ensuring a good environmental outcome in various complex situations and how law can best represent these. You will learn how to identify the object (clause) of an Act; i.e., its scope, purpose and subject matter, and how the object clause is key to providing guidance for the administration of legislation.
You will also learn how the international community have tried to manage the principal challenges for environmental protection and management. You will also learn about the relationship between Commonwealth and state law, and about how the Constitution enables the Commonwealth Parliament to create environmental laws in Australia.
