Requisites

Enrolment rules

The following students are not eligible to enrol in this unit: Intermediate or advanced students who have some knowledge of Indonesian or Malay, for example: a) Native speakers of Indonesian or Malay. b) Students from countries where Indonesian or Malay is a partial or complete medium of instruction in the educational system.
Students with Indonesian language competency, (e.g. ATAR Indonesian) may take this course after consulting with the Unit Coordinator.

Learning outcomes

Express ideas and opinions on familiar and general topics using appropriate pronunciation, intonation, and grammar, ensuring clarity and comprehension for listeners.

Comprehend spoken Indonesian on familiar and general topics.

Translate and compose dialogues and write brief paragraphs exploring general topics using appropriate vocabulary, correct grammar, a variety of expressions in formal and informal registers.

Advanced students including those who have Indonesian Second Language: ATAR, WACE qualification in Indonesian as Second Language or equivalent must consult the Unit Coordinator to determine level of entry before enrolling in this unit. ·

This is a University-Wide Breadth Unit. If this unit is taken as a Core or Specified Elective unit in a student's major or minor, it cannot also be used to satisfy the University-Wide Breadth Unit requirement. If taken as a University-Wide Breadth Unit, this unit will contribute to satisfying that Part II requirement of the Bachelor degree, however its credit points will be counted as Part I points; students should note that no more than 30 credit points at Part I may be credited towards course completion requirements.
