Additional information
Unit content:
In PSY382, we will discuss biological, psychological, cognitive and social theories of ageing, including the epidemiology of psychological conditions, genetics, neuroscientific research findings, sociocultural context, and individual differences. We will examine the multidimensional and multidirectional approaches to psychology of ageing and how this understanding changes our perception of ageing, both as psychologists and as members of the wider community.
We will also discuss normal, pathological and healthy ageing, including dementias and other age-related neurological and psychological conditions. Finally, we will discuss the applications of psychological assessment techniques and interventions in modifying age-related changes.
