The content of the unit includes:

  • The Prison Administration Act (1981) and COPPS (2018)
  • Traditional and alternative approaches to sentencing
  • The experience of imprisonment
  • Different prison designs and management systems
  • Specific groups of offenders including those at risk of suicide and self-harm, and female offenders
  • Treatment of offenders
  • Community corrections, parole and early release
